THE GIRL IN ROOM NO-105 is the 8th novel of CHETAN BHAGAT. This is a story of the IIT coaching class tutor who went to wish his ex-girlfriend on her birthday and found her dead. Someone has murdered her. The story says how he stands beside his dead ex-girlfriend to find the killer and give justice to her.

One day Chetan Bhagat meets a guy, who was his co-passenger on a midnight indigo flight from Hyderabad to Delhi. Where the co-passenger narrates the story to the author.

STORY.

Keshav is an IIT pass out student and works as a teacher in JEE. He was from an orthodox family, his mother was a homemaker and father was a part of RSS. He loves a girl Zara. Zara was Keshav's colleague and was pursuing a Ph.D. in IIT. And Zara was a Kashmiri Muslim girl. So their love story ends because of their families who fight over religious issues. But Keshav could not come out of it completely and still thinks of Zara. But Zara now loves Raghu (Keshav s classmate) who is intelligent and looks good. Keshav uses to call Zara to say her to comeback but Zara never agreed. Sourabh (Keshav`s colleague) use to proffer Keshav to forget Zara and to focus on the future.

On Zara s birthday, Keshav controls himself from calling Zara to wish her. He and Sourabh drank together and fell asleep. At about 3 Am Keshav received a text message from Zara asking why he didn't wish her this year. She also asked to meet her immediately in her room. Keshav agreed and rushed to Zara s room on the IIT campus.

As he entered Zara`s room.

As he entered Zara`s room, he found the room is dark and Zara was asleep on her bed. As he touches Zaras forehead he felt a cold chill. He immediately switches on the light and found Zara dead. Someone has killed her. He called up Sourav, who suggest running away from the scene but He did not agree. He became determined to find the killer, he informed the police and Zara's parents. At first, the hostel watchman was arrested as he was missing from the CCTV camera during the time when Zara was killed. The case was closed but Keshav continued to Investigate himself with the help of Inspector Vikram Rana. As Keshav digs deeper into the case he suspects Prof Saxena (Zara`s Ph.D. guide) though he was withdrawn as a suspect after getting out the truth.

After searching for a new suspect in the case he found Sikander. Sikander was Zara s stepbrother and was also a part of a terrorist group in Kashmir. With the help of Zara`s father, Keshav searched Zara`s room and found a locker that belongs to her. In the locker, he found a pregnancy kit, gunpowder, and some smiling faced selfie of Zara and Sikander with a gun. Keshav goes through the clues one by one. He first tried to meet Sikander and get information about the group he works for. At first, Sikander threatens them with a gun and ran away.

They again tried to reach Sikander using his mother in Kashmir. Sikander meets them and tried to convince them that he did not kill his sister. But Keshav didi not believe Sikander because he had clues to prove that Sikander can kill his sister in fear that the terrorist group might be known to the army. The next day Keshav realized his mistake to suspect Sikander because of Sikander killing himself telling that his existence would harm the terrorist group he belongs to and convince everyone that he did not kill his sister.

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.

Then he looked into the pregnancy kit found in Zara s locker and also get to see a picture with an army officer (Capt Faiz) in Kashmir on zara`s Instagram. After proper analysis, he found that the army officer had given expensive jewelry as a gift. Thay raid his house in Delhi. They found the same pregnancy kit and when they checked his internet searched history the found that he searched for abortion and divorce. They also found gold blocks and all this proves he made Zara pregnant and kills her in shame.

To arrest Faiz unknowingly they arranged a dinner party and invited every one Zara knows. After 100 days of Zara s death and before the dinner party Raghav went to Hyderabad for a short trip. where he realizes that Raghu is the real killer. At the dinner party, Raghu confessed that he killed Zara because he found her having an affair with Faiz. And perhaps she was carrying Faiz s child. Though Faiz told that she was not pregnant by him but they had an affair. As because Faiz was married and already has a child Zara did not want him to leave them for her. Keshav also came to know that Raghu had sent those text messages from Zara s phone on the night when she was killed. Raghu was arrested by Inspector Rana. After the novel ends with Keshav visiting Zara s grave. He and Sourabh started a detective agency to help police in investigations of cases.
