The author Don Miguel Ruiz is a Mexican writer of Toltec spiritualist and Neoshamanistic text. He is also known as Miguel Angel Ruiz and he was born on August 27, 1952.


"The Four Agreements" draws inspiration from a set of spiritual beliefs of the ancient Toltec people to help readers transform their lives into new experiences of freedom, true happiness, and love.
According to the author, everything a person does is based on an agreement they have made with themselves, with others, with God, and with life.
In this agreement, one can tell oneself who they are, how to behave, what is possible, and what is impossible. It may not be a problem to create, but there are some agreements that come out of fear and have the power to reduce one's mental strength as well as one's self-worth.

The book states that these self-limiting agreements cause undue suffering and the author believes more. To find that personal happiness one must be freed from the coercive and fearful contract imposed by society that can subconsciously affect a person’s behavior and mentality.

Agreement 1: Be Impeccable With Your Word.

Ruiz first analyzes the term “impeccable ”. The word impeccable comes from the Latin word peccatum meaning "sin". And at the beginning of impeccable "im" is the Latin, prefix which means "without".

Ruiz describes sin as anything that goes against itself and therefore impeccable with language means taking responsibility for the actions and remain without judgment against oneself and others.

In short, this agreement focuses on the importance of speaking honestly and choosing words carefully before speaking aloud.
