"The Metamorphosis" is a novella, which was originally written in the German language as "Die Verwandlung" by Franz Kafka.
The story in "The Metamorphosis" is about a traveling salesman named, Gregor Samsa. Who woke up one morning from an uneasy dream and find himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect. This story tells about the struggle of the salesman to adjust to this new condition. As his family members are completely repulsed by him and they limit their communication with Gregor as much as they can.
The story in this book basically explores the theme of alienation isolation and identity crisis.
