"Malgudi Days" is a collection of 32 short fictional stories written by R.K Narayan. The book was first published in 1943 by India Thought Publisher. In 1983 the book was republished outside India by Penguin Classic.

The stories in this book is based on a beautiful fictional town Malgudi, located in South India. The stories in the book "Malgudi Days" revolves around the problems faced by the common people of the town during that era. And they are mostly about the normal day to day routine and events taking place in the town of Malgudi.

In 1986, some of the stories from the book were taken for a television series, which was also named Malgudi Days. This television series was directed by actor and director Sankar Nag and was telecasted in Doordarshan. In 2006, the project was again revived by filmmaker Kavita Lankesh replacing Late Sankar Nag as director. This new series was telecast from 26th April 2006 in Doordarshan.
