The main vision of the story is an opium room where we come to know a lot of different characters. We come to know about Rashid and his opium room on Shuklaji Street, where the air is thick with voices and ghosts. We also read about the young woman, who holds a long-stemmed pipe over a flame, her hair falling across her eyes. We read about many other different people who visit this joint.
